Gratitude gets us through the hard stuff. Giving thanks helps us get through whatever we are going through. The surest path out of a pit starts by saying, “Thank you.” It’s gratitude that always leaves us looking at God and away from the dread.
God is always at work. He never twiddles his thumbs. He doesn’t take vacation. He never stops. Just because you are stuck, don’t assume God is. God is working in whatever you are going through.
We find God’s presence amid God’s people. Cancel your escape to the North Pole. Forget the deserted island. This is no time to be a hermit. Be a barnacle on the boat of God’s church. Lean on God’s people.
We can respond in one of two ways to suffering: groaning or grumbling. Who wants to hear your vomit of groans? God does. Don’t try to make your sadness go away. Don’t pretend it doesn’t exist. Don’t put it in charge of your life. Take it to God.
