International Students Inc

Andy and Sandy Pearce

International Students, Inc., exists to share Christ's love with international college students.  Since 1953, ISI has been training Americans to meet international students' needs.  These Americans befriend international students and help them adjust to American culture.

Describe your relationship to Aldersgate Church

"We were members of Aldersgate from 1996-1998 before we were called to the mission field of international college and university students in Southern California. I served on the mission committee at Aldersgate, and we were part of the Home Builders Sunday school class. Since becoming missionaries, we have been thankful to receive monthly financial support and prayer support from Aldersgate, in addition to funding to help pay tuition for ongoing education the past two years (Thank you!). We have mailed an update letter every six weeks, and we have stayed in contact with a number of Aldersgate members. We also email a list of prayer requests to Roberta on the 1st Monday of each month and are very grateful for the commitment to pray for us! We have visited Lubbock every 2-3 years to update Aldersgate. The most recent visit was October 2018 when Roberta hosted a dinner for me and I shared with several Aldersgate mission leaders and longtime friends."

Can you share with us a story of someone who has been changed by your ministry?

"A young woman came to Pasadena from China to marry a PhD student (also from China) at California Institute of Technology. Their marriage was challenging from the beginning. She spent quite a bit of time in our home in Bible study and God gradually changed her heart. As she was transformed by God’s love, her marriage was transformed as her love and kindness toward her husband was reciprocated. She accepted Christ in our living room, and her husband, who was resistant to the gospel for seven years, accepted Christ several months later. She tells Sandy and me that we saved their marriage. They (and their two young children) have been leading a small group at a Chinese church in Pasadena. Earlier this year, they returned to China where he started a company. They are now sharing the gospel in China among the scientific leaders!"

Please tell us how we can pray for your ministry?

  • For more staff members and committed volunteers to join ISI.
  • For a hedge of protection for Andy as he drives many miles on the Southern California freeways!
  • For God’s protection and good health for our family, especially for our four daughters in college and all five working part-time jobs.
  • For Andy’s mentoring and leading of the ISI staff team and volunteers in Southern California.
  • For more small group Bible studies to begin.
