How We Know Jesus

Tradition: The Witness of History

August 9, 20262 Thessalonians 2:13-15Ryan Smallwood

Theme: Living faith uses the church’s traditions. Paul tells believers to “stand firm and hold to the traditions” passed down to them. The Christian faith did not begin with us. It has been tested, clarified, defended, and preserved across centuries. Tradition is not nostalgia - it is collective wisdom. Creeds, councils, confessions, hymns, liturgies - they anchor us in orthodoxy and guard us from theological drift. Challenge: Learn from church history rather than dismissing it by re-engaging the historic confessions and creeds.
