The Gospels Bible reading plan is a chronological, 5-days-per-week, reading plan that covers the entirety of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) over the course of 12 weeks.
These four books give us an inside-look at Jesus' time here on earth. The saying "like father, like son" has never been more true than in the case of Jesus. Hebrews 1:3 reminds us that Jesus is not just like God, He is God— "the exact representation of his being." Over the next twelve weeks, well observe Jesus' words, actions, priorities, methods, and responses, and through these gain a greater understanding of the character and ways of our Father in heaven.
While the book of Matthew was written anonymously, reliable sources attribute authorship to Matthew, a former tax collector and one of Jesus' twelve disciples.
The book of Mark was written by John Mark, who ministered alongside Paul and Peter. John Mark's account, was gathered from Peter's first-hand experiences as one of the twelve disciples of Jesus.
The book of Luke was written by Luke, a physician and coworker with Paul. Luke's gospel presents an "an orderly account of Jesus' life, produced from interviews with first-hand eyewitnesses.
The book of John was written by John, one of Jesuss closest followers. There is still debate over whether the author is John, son of Zebedee (one of the twelve disciples) or John "the Elder" as his identity is revealed solely as "the disciple whom Jesus loved."
