One of the things I love about being a pastor is the life narratives I so often get to be privy to. Those stories are often shared in the church lobby on a Sunday morning. That was the case this past Sunday just after preaching a message on one of Aldersgate’s core values: Found People Find People.
I was met by a family that I have known for some time but had never heard their “found people find people” story. It all started when their then pre-school age daughter was invited to Vacation Bible School at Aldersgate. The family wasn’t churched at the time but they were excited about sending their daughter to VBS and allowed her to go. Of course, she just absolutely loved everything about it. And so, the entire family ended up in church the following Sunday. That was 19 years ago! They joined a small group, began to serve and they have been here ever since! The story of their life transformation has been nothing less than extraordinary. And it all started with a simple invitation to Vacation Bible School. Oh, and that pre-school aged girl? Well, I had the privilege of officiating her wedding last summer!
Who do you need to invite to Aldersgate’s VBS?
You never know what God will do with a simple invitation!
